Biography

Author, 5th Dan Taekwondo black belt and Logie nominated television personality - Tiffiny has many titles tucked under her black belt.

Tiffiny has a Bachelor of Arts/Media and Communications majoring in creative writing and print journalism and a Diploma of Modern Languages (French) from the University of Melbourne, Certificate III & IV in Fitness and a Diploma of Sport Coaching with a specialisation in martial arts.

Tiffiny commenced her writing career as a print journalist. She had a column with the Herald Sun and OK! magazine and works as a health and wellness contributor to Cosmopolitan, Cleo, Dolly, Marie Claire, Women's Health and Fitness to name a few.  Her first health book, How to create the Ultimate Body was published in 2008 followed by Weightloss Warrior in 2011, Fatloss for Good - the secret weapon and Lighten Up cookbook 2012.

Whilst Tiffiny is passionate about health, there’s another side to her writing - she’s a book ninja.

Tiffiny’s English teacher was the inspiring John Marsden of the Tomorrow series. She won the John Marsden award for creative writing in 1996 and has continued writing fiction ever since. She released her debut novel White Ninja, the first book in the Roxy Ran series in 2012 with HarperCollins Publishers. White Ninja is followed by Red Samurai and Black Warrior.  Quoted on the cover, John Marsden says of White Ninja, "Dazzlingly different ... a novel about transformation that has the power to transform every reader. Tiffiny Hall is the new voice in children's fiction.”

White Ninja was selected for the prestigious list of ’50 books you can’t put down’ for 2012. Tiffiny also writes for teens. Her first Young Adult novel will be released with HarperCollins Publishers.

Tiffiny is best known for her role as a trainer on two series of The Biggest Loser, winning her first series and earning a Logie nomination for Most Popular New Female Talent.

Tiffiny first hit our screens in the remake of Gladiators as athlete Gladiator Angel, then continued to present a weekly health/lifestyle segment on The Circle. She has appeared on Kids WB, Fox8, Today Tonight, Sunrise, Mornings, The Project, ABC, Love to Share, Nickelodeon, Slide Show and Celebrity Come Dine With Me (2014)

Appearing everywhere in her whites, Tiffiny is Australia’s most famous ninja.

After studying martial arts for over 25 years, growing up in the family business Hall's Taekwondo, daughter of an Olympic coach and ninja mum, it’s no surprise Tiffiny has more than fifteen Australian Titles.

Tiffiny loves to take her martial arts out of the dojo not only through television and her fiction but also into schools. As well as writing and TV, Tiffiny is a popular school speaker empowering kids through anti-bullying programs, health talks, writing workshops and self-defence. She combines her entertaining talks with strong messages of confidence, resilience and self-esteem. Not forgetting the big kids, Tiffiny is also a corporate motivational speaker.

Roxy Ran

The Roxy Ran ninja novels are action, adventure books for girls and boys aged 8+. Bursting with ninjas, samurais, magic, monsters and romance there is something that will appeal to every reader. 

Tiffiny hopes that if young readers take one thing away from the series, it’s that the greatest superpower you can ever possess is confidence and self-belief. The author was first inspired to write the Roxy Ran books because many of her taekwondo students were being bullied verbally, physically and online.

‘Bullies exist, not just at school but inside us all,’ she says. ‘Roxy has to stand up to bullies but also learn to stand up to herself.’

Although sad that the series has come to an end, Tiffiny is thrilled that the books have been embraced by readers. ‘When I  speak at schools and do ninja moves with the kids, I see Roxy alive and kicking in all of them.’
